Garba - The Indian Folk Dance from Gujarat


Firstly hope all readers of my blog are fine.m sorry for not posting any posts in these months.But finally i am back.:D
So today i am writing about Garba Dance which is folk dance from Gujarat,India. Normally Garba is performed by Gujaratis in all over the world.Garba is performed to worship Godess Durga.
In modern times Garba garba is being performed in crowd like Societies,Clubs and Schools. Garba songs are normally all about Nine Godess or Lord Krishna. Garba is performed in Navratri (Nine Nights).
Costumes:-Girls wear Chaniyacholi, a three-piece dress with a choli, which is an embroidered and colorful blouse, teamed with chaniya, which is the flared, skirt-like bottom, and dupatta, which is usually worn in the traditional Gujarati manner.And they wear lots of jewellaries like big earings,neckless,anklets  bindi, bajubandh,  kamarbandh, payal and colourful bangles, chudas and kangans. Chaniyacholis are decorated by glass,balls,sparkles n diffrent types of handwork.Girls do lots of traditional makeup also.


Boys wear "Kediya" which is a short round flared Kurta above kness and pyjama or Dhoti- garment wrapped round waist and tucked in.and paaghdi on the head.Inshort Boys looks like Lord Krishna.
