History of Hip-Hop Dance

Hip-hop, as we see today is a broad category that includes a wide range of old and new styles of urban dance. The old styles that were created in the 1970s, including Uprock, break and funk styles. These dance styles all started independently of each other, half of them in New York and one in California. Uprock was established in Brooklyn, NY and was the break created in the Bronx. In its primitive form, started to break the deepening of James Brown "Good Foot" dance, which was released in 1972. Breaking the time was not primarily oriented to the ground as we see today, it started as toprock made up. In 1973, DJ Kool Herc invented the breakbeat. A breakbeat is a rhythmic musical interlude of a song that was looped over and over again to extend the instrumental solo. Kool Herc was to allow the dancers who attended his parties to show their skills.

B-boy and b-girl is an acronym for a "break-boy" and a "break-girl", dance b-boys/b-girls to break the record. The second effect was toprock uprock. Uprock toprock similar but is more aggressive, and is intended to show fight. Unlike toprock, uprock failed to crack jokes. The song was a good start finish. Also, Uprocking done with partners, but each in turn to break dance. It also affects the martial arts and gymnastics, went from being a pure toprock break dance style just yet oriented to the floor.

Funk styles refer to different styles of street dance created in California in the 1970s that were danced to funk music. These styles include  roboting, bopping, hitting, locking, bustin', popping, electric boogaloo, strutting, sac-ing, dime-stopping, etc. Similar to breaking,James Brown also had a major impact on boogaloo dance style. Sat one of the inspirations for the creation of Solomon was James Brown Dance Boogaloo "popcorn" and the name of the dance was taken by the title of James Brown's song "Do the Boogaloo." The most popular and widely practiced styles are funk and pop locking. The blockade is the oldest of the two and was created by Don Campbell in the 1960's. burst was created by Sam Solomon at the 1970. The year 1980 brought the wrong style media as "breakdancing" / "breakdance" label to cause confusion about its origin.

Hip-hop dance seen today is a broad category that includes several old yes new urban dance styles. Older styles that have been created in the 1970s HAVE Uprock, breaking it, yes funk styles. Nama dance styles, it all started independent of each other, other half in New York, California, yes. Uprock was founded in Brooklyn, NY Bronx created Rikko yes. End earliest form, began to be compiled without breaking James Brown's "Good Post-," a dance that appeared in the 1972nd Flux Breaking this point was not primarily oriented Cane As has been seen today, began toprock see who is standing. Flux 1973 DJ Kool Herc keks breakbeat. Breakbeat is a rhythmic musical interval is a song that is looped over again extended and solo instrumental. Kool Herc Made THIS provide a means for the dancers who participated in the cock parties to demonstrate their skills.

They were created on the west coast, separated from the break and came out of the funk cultural movement rather than hip-hop cultural movement. The TV show, Soul Train has helped to spread the locking and popping popularity. Both create and Electric Boogaloos-dance crews are responsible for the spread of locking and popping out on this show. Today is the style funk now be done for both hip-hop and funk.

Terence shares his expertise with Just Dance's Top 21

One of the most established choreographers of the industry, Terence Lewis, is indeed a force to reckon with in the entertainment world. The celebrity choreographer has choreographed many international stage shows, mega bollywood shows, exclusive corporate launches, Broadway western musicals, feature films & music videos.
He also runs the Terence Lewis Academy International (TLA I), providing dance instruction around the world while Terence Lewis Dance Foundation Scholarship Trust (TLDFST) since has been the one of its kind dance scholarship with the view to providing dance as a serious career option. Now, Terence is all set to take the contestants of Just Dance, through special classes in contemporary, jazz and hiphop to ensure that they excel in each form of dance.

Who is your favourite among the contestants in Just dance?

I don’t have any favourites among the contestants but I feel the ones who can dance with both the male and female energy will be a wholesome, ultimate dancer. The inhalation and exhalation of breath is really important in dance. Karan Pangali, Ankan, Rajith, Karan Khanna, Meher are few people I have noticed who have tremendous potential. They are working hard to better themselves and learn in this competition. All these people have a lot of potential.

How do you gauge if a dancer has the ability to excel in a particular dance form?

Every dancer has to have a flexible body. It also depends on the dance form - like if you are doing contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, the dancer would need a certain amount of flexibility in the spine, certain attitude needed for the style. One also needs to understand the mind set of a dancer before pushing him/her into a certain dance form. As everyone has their tastes so it is better to excel in what you love best. Whatever the mind wants, desires, loves, the body will learn it faster. Also, the dancer’s capabilities, whether the dancer is trained or not also makes a difference in learning a new dance form.

What will you be teaching in these workshops?

Before they learn anything about Contemporary dance, they will have to learn how movements originated, how to go about it, how to control body parts and elongate them, going across the floor, turning your body, isolation, connection, and many basic ground rules of Contemporary dance. First of all they will learn the basics of Contemporary dance before learning the form exactly. Once you know they understand the basics, then you teach them a routine and perfect it. I will also be teaching them about how to create variation and give depth to their dance.

How do you plan on tapping on these contestants talent in order to bring out the best in them?

I used to be a dancer and would train for hours daily but that knowledge doesn’t make me a teacher. The art of teaching is a tough process which requires understanding of the training principles. How do you teach a person who has never danced before, or knows the basics of dance, or wants to learn the intricacies of a dance form? A good dancer need not necessarily be a good teacher and vice versa. How do you teach people about rythym, balance, art. To build that, I have had training to be a teacher. I have done research and understood the process. I can say without arrogance that I am a great teacher.

What is the one important factor that a good dancer must possess?

A dancer needs a certain amount of discipline to go through rigours of dance as it is not an easy task. Everyone can dance but to be a dancer is not everyone’s cup of tea. A dancer has a skill, an ability to mesmerize the audience and himself. A dancer needs to be active, focused, disciplined, dedicated, great teachers and be in love with dance more than anything else. Being a full time dancer isn’t easy nor can I teach you in a day. You need to be patient, perseverant and have a good, strong body.

What is the kind of transformation you are expecting to see at the end of this workshop?

I hope to see a change in attitude towards Contemporary dance, understanding of choreography, how dance and dancer are connected.

What has been Hrithik’s brief to you. How does he want the workshops to benefit the contestants and what is the end result he wants to see?

Hrithik told me that most dancers in the show are raw and need to be polished, be taught and explained about dance. They needed to understand what they are doing. They all have potential to be great dancers but don’t know where it comes from, or how they can achieve it. They don’t know the names of steps they do, and in short, most dancers are dance illiterate. So Hrithik wanted me to teach them about dance, where it came from and how it evolved. Like if you learn to speak hindi as a kid, doesn’t mean you can read and write it too- you need to be taught that at school right? That is the same way with dance. Once you learn to read and write hindi, you realise you can read more books, and understand things better. The same way when you learn about dance, you can understand and use it better.

Karan Pangali is better dancer than me-Hritik Roshan

The God of dance Hrithik Roshan, one of the three judges on the reality dance show "Just Dance", is all praise for Karan Pangali, a promising part of the show.

Hrithik Roshan

Raving about Karan, Hrithik said that participants from U.K, which despite being a trained classical dancer never hesitates to try and versatile dance styles, is a better dancer than him.

Apparently, Karan is gaining popularity, not only for her ability to dance, but also the fact that the mirror image of Hrithik Roshan, appearance-wise.

When asked if he, too, like the others, feels that Karan is his look-alike, the superstar said, “What I like about Karan is that he is a classical dancer who is not afraid to break the norms. He’s a handsome guy, but whether we look alike is for others to decide. I see only his dance. He’s a better dancer than me.”

Hrithik press 3 lakhs each to eliminate competitors

Although usually the winners are honored with awards, something strange happened to Hrithik Roshan's dance program.

Allegedly affected B-town Greek god Hrithik, to make way to break the dreams of participants by removing those eliminated each participant a tidy sum of RS3 lakh, so they can spend money to develop their careers.

"Hrithik was so touched by the participants of Just Dance, he has 3 lakh each to help them pursue their dream of dancing," an insider informed.

Introduction as a superstar makes me nervous - Hrithik

Despite being one of the actors from List A and a crazy fan following, Hrithik prefer not to be called a superstar when you are not.

The actor says being referred to as the superstar because he did not put on his acting or dancing shoes and not on stage makes him uncomfortable.

Asked about his films flop, ie "Guzaarish" and "Kites", has affected the status of superstar, Hrithik told TOI, "I do not know where it comes from. I am very, very annoying when people refer to me as a superstar - except when I'm about to be introduced on the stage where I was working as a superstar. I am comfortable because I have the jacket and the mask of a star. But if you introduce me, nothing like a superstar, it irritates me, it makes me a little uncomfortable. "

Karan Pangali makes place in Top 13 Dancer of Just Dance

Star Plus' popular dance reality TV show 'Just Dance' is now in its final stages with the remaining 13 contestants vying for the coveted prize.
Karan Pangali is flying the flag high for the UK as he's the only British Asian contest to remain on the show. According to a statement by the channel, "Karan is a dance instructor from UK, whose students appear to worship the ground he walks on. In his London shows, he loves to perform on hit numbers of Hrithik Roshan’s films, much to the delight of his audience. Maybe Karan’s looks a wee bit like Hrithik Roshan too. Incidentally, Shaimak Davar had once selected Karan for a show in London to perform along with Shilpa Shetty and Salman Khan. Now whether this combination of killer looks and deadly moves will make him the Ultimate Champ is something we need to wait and watch."
It remains to be seen whether Karan Pangali will be able to stay on the show until the end.
Karan deserves to be in the show,so friends we all have to wish him luck.Karan is a classical dancer(Kathak),in audition Vaibhavi told him that he can be a best technical dancer in the world. And Hritik Roshan loved his performance.
